Common lands (beaches, shore below the turf line, woodlands and wetlands) “shall forever be held in trust for the benefit of all member landowners and shall be kept so far as reasonably possible in a natural state, except for improvement to roads and water system and insect control.”
– IPA Bylaws, Sec. 14
Walking trails through common lands and paths to access the beaches, shore, and promontory are maintained for the use of all members, their guests, and renters.
Common Land Use
Please, observe the Indian Point Association guidelines.
Be aware, hunting is allowed during the state deer season on portions of the common lands.
Common Land Oversight
In 2008, the membership adopted a mission statement and use policies for common lands. The IPA Board created the Common Lands Committee (CLC) to administer and oversee common lands use policies and actions. In 2016, the CLC disbanded as a committee but enlisted project coordinators in three individual areas: Trail Maintenance, Fire Safety, and Invasive Plant Control
