History

An ad hoc Common Lands Use Committee was formed in February 2008 to develop a mission and policies that clarify the meaning of the Bylaws in regard to common lands and provide guidance in a number of areas, including, but not limited to, woodlands and wildlife conservation, blow-downs, invasive species, historic artifacts, plantings, trails, visual aesthetics and fire prevention.

In June 2008, the membership adopted a mission statement and use policies for common lands owned by the association.  The IPA Board created the Common Lands Committee (CLC) to administer and oversee common lands use policies and actions.

In 2016, the CLC disbanded as a standing committee by a motion adopted at the annual membership meeting.  The BOD subsequently appointed coordinators of specific common lands issues and tasks such as: trail maintenance, fire safety, and invasive species control.  These coordinators are not necessarily board members themselves, but report to a designated board member.
